Everyone is familiar with the basic outline of arguably Shakespeare's most famous play. The scene where MacBeth meets the witches, the scene with the murder, and the banquet scene where Banquo appears. All these scenes are reproduced in this version ... but with not-so-subtle twists. Duncan doesn't get murdered, and there is a baddie on the scene that makes MacB look like a complete amateur!

Packed full of puns and good humour, as well as six songs for soloists and chorus, this is a show that will delight your audience as well as your cast. Solo lines in songs can mostly be easily adapted for performance by chorus if desired. Piano score available. A total of 30 speaking parts, although many could be doubled if required. Suitable for ages 10 and up.

The Scottish Play

“The jokes worked, the comedy was funny to actors and audience alike, and the play succeeded in invoking sympathy for the characters caught up in their quasi-Shakespearean plot twists and turns.”
